USMNT's Brenden Aaronson and Leeds stunned by Hull City late, settle for a draw

Brenden Aaronson and Leeds United were stunned by relegation candidates Hull City on Saturday, with The Tigers scoring two late goals to secure a point in a 3-3 draw.

Leeds responded to a quick opener from Hull with three-straight goals in the second half from Ao Tanaka, Daniel James, and Joel Piroe, but a stunning comeback saw them end things with a draw. Goals from Joao Pedro and Abu Kamara saw Hull comeback in the 81st and 89th minute, ending Aaronson and Leeds' three-match winning streak.

Despite dropping points, Leeds still remain first in the English Championship on 53 points, one point clear of second place Burnley.

Aaronson had his best month to date as a Leeds player during December, with three goals and an assist in six matches, but struggled to make a pressing impact on Saturday.

The 24-year-old U.S. international earned just 38 touches on the ball across 90 minutes, connecting 15/21 passes while creating three attacking chances. He did, however, complete 100 percent of his crosses and completed 2/3 long balls.

Defensively, he won 2/2 tackles and completed 5/10 passes -- but was 0/4 on aerial duels.

Leeds defeated the Tigers in August, recording a 2-0 result against them early in the campaign. Goals from Mateo Joseph and Piroe secured all three points, while Aaronson logged 90 minutes in the match.

Aaronson and Leeds are back in action on Saturday, Jan. 11 in the FA Cup against Harrogate Town. Then, they take on Sheffield Wednesday on Jan. 19 in league action.
