Leading Apple TV commentator and former USMNT player Taylor Twellman is under investigation by Major League Soccer following an alleged physical altercation with a production assistant during an MLS playoff broadcast, according to the Athletic.

The incident allegedly occurred around Game 1 of the Eastern Conference first round match between Atlanta United and Lionel Messi. Twellman was kept on color commentary duty for Game 2 of the series, but was removed for Game 3 after the assistant reportedly filed a complaint.

Sources involved in the production told the Athletic that the match was marred by audio difficulties, a recurring theme during the MLS partnership with Apple TV, which debuted during the 2023 season.

There is no video of the incident. Play by play commentator Jake Zivin was reportedly at the scene, as well as one other unidentified individual.

Twellman declined to comment to the Athletic. Through a representative, MLS also declined to comment to the news outlet, as did Apple TV.
