Transfer boost for Arsenal & Chelsea! Ivan Toney admits he wants to play for a 'top club' as he backtracks on commitment to Brentford after betting ban

The English striker, whose eight-month ban for betting breaches ended on Wednesday, had earlier expressed his gratitude towards Brentford for having his back during the hiatus and claimed that he has to repay the club now. But with his latest comments on his future, the player has somewhat backtracked on his commitment to the Bees.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Toney said: "You can never predict when is the right time to move elsewhere, but I think it's obvious I want to play for a top club. Everybody wants to play for a top club, that is fighting for titles. Whether it's this January that is the right time for a club to come in and pay the right money, who knows? But my main focus is to do what I do on the pitch and let the background work take care of itself."

Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea, who have been long-time admirers of the England international, will be encouraged by his latest comments and could push for a deal in the remainder of the January transfer window. Toney has been preparing himself for a return to competitive action for the last few weeks and even managed to score ahat-trick in a thumping 5-1 win over Southampton's U23 sidefor Brentford B earlier this month.

The 27-year-old could return to action in the Premier League on Saturday as Thomas Frank's side take on Nottingham Forest. Brentford will know they could face a real battle to keep hold of their talisman in what remains of January.
