Tom Brady already considering sacking Wayne Rooney after disastrous start to life as Birmingham City boss

The NFL great acquired a minority stake in the Championship club back in August and was in attendance for the first home game of the season, which ended in a 1-0 victory over Leeds. Despite a less-than-disastrous start to the campaign, Birmingham took the surprising decision to sack head coach John Eustace before appointing Rooney on October 11. Since then, it hasn't gone to plan for the Manchester United legend.

Following severe backlash from his very appointment, Rooney has not only failed to win over fans but has instead led the West Midlands side to a series of dire results. The 38-year-old has recorded just two wins in his 13 games as Birmingham boss, alongside three draws and eight defeats, causing them to slide down to 19th in the league table after 24 matches. As a result, The Mirror reports that Brady and Co. are considering sacking the ex-England forward in order to salvage their season.

Were Rooney to be let go at this stage, he would still narrowly avoid the unwanted record of the Birmingham manager with the lowest win percentage in the club's history. That title belongs to Gianfranco Zola, who posted just two wins across 24 games between December 2016 and April 2017, totalling a dreadful 8.3 percentage. Rooney's tally currently stands at 15.4 per cent.

Pressure therefore appears to be mounting on the former DC United and Derby coach. NFL legend Brady is yet to make an official decision on his future, but it seems likely that dropped points in Birmingham's upcoming league fixtures against Bristol and Leeds could be decisive in sealing Rooney's fate.
