Amorim recently caused a stir by labelling his side “the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United” after their 3-1 loss to Brighton. However, according to The Guardian,Ratcliffe happens to be unphased by the fallout from the Portuguese manager’s comments. The INEOS chief believes the squad understands Amorim’s passion and desire to win, interpreting his remarks more as an emotional outburst rather than a personal attack on the players.

Speaking after the Brighton defeat, Amorim said, “In 10 games in the Premier League, we won two. I know that. We are the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United.”

His words sent shockwaves through the fanbase, with many questioning the morale of the players following such a blunt assessment.

Amorim later clarified that he was talking more about himself than the players, as he has failed to revive the glory days after taking charge from Erik ten Hag in November.

"I was ­talking more for myself than my players because I was talking that [I am] a coach who starts out losing seven games in the first [15]. So it’s more for me," he said.

United’s performances under Amorim have been a rollercoaster ride.
