'A totally perfect evening!' - Spurs fans react to defeat to Manchester City which leaves Arsenal's title hopes hanging by a thread

Arsenal needed their arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur to secure at least a point on Tuesday to head into the final matchday tied on points with Manchester City. In such a scenario the Gunners had a very good chance to seal the title by winning their last game of the season against Everton as they continue to enjoy a superior goal difference over Pep Guardiola's side.

However, things did not go to plan as the Cityzens sealed an important win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium courtesy of an Erling Haaland brace.

With the reigning champions registering a win over Spurs, Mikel Arteta's side's title hopes now hang by a thread as a win on Sunday will help City lift the Premier League trophy for the fourth consecutive season.

A Tottenham page, The Spurs Express, appreciated Son, who missed a one-on-one, and Pedro Porro - who conceded a late penalty to assure Man City of three points - after the game as the page posted, "This is a Heung-Min Son and Pedro Porro appreciation post."

An account by the name, Simply Spurs, mocked rival fans for going through the pain of supporting Spurs against Man City as he posted a funny GIF with the caption that read, "Arsenal fans had to experience supporting Tottenham Hotspur."

While The Lilywhites somewhat managed to spoil their rivals' party, they also crashed out of the Champions League race as Aston Villa were guaranteed a top-four finish with the North London club's defeat.

City will now aim to lift the trophy at Etihad Stadium on Sunday as they take on West Ham before facing rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final on May 25.
