Seattle Sounders welcome St. Louis City to Lumen Field for the first time on Saturday in an improbable battle for first place.
Sounders are two points behind St Louis in the Western Conference after defeating Los Angeles Galaxy 2-1, while St Louis suffered their first-ever loss in an MLS regular season game last weekend, losing 1-0 to Minnesota United.

Six games into the new season, and it appears that the Seattle club from earlier in the decade is back, with the Rave Green having accrued 13 of a possible 18 points so far. They continued to dominate Galaxy on the road in Los Angeles, extending their unbeaten streak against them to 10 games and becoming the first team in MLS history to do so.
It was also a historic night for Brian Schmetzer, who in just 212 games managed to record 100 regular-season victories (excluding shootouts), breaking the previous record of 215 games held by Bob Bradley and Bruce Arena.
Nothing lasts forever, as St. Louis City learned in their most recent game when their remarkable early run came to an end against the Loons at home. The expansion team's first goal conceded in nearly 350 minutes came in the 78th minute through a penalty kick from Luis Amarilla, and they also failed to score for the first time this season.
Bradley Carnell and his team may have suffered a brief setback as a result of that defeat, but there are still plenty of positive aspects to their current situation. For instance, St. Louis still has the highest goal differential in the league (+10) and is still in first place in the standings for the Supporters' Shield with 15 points.
