Revealed: Date set for Lionel Messi injury return – with Inter Miami superstar set to sit out MLS fixtures

Lionel Messi has reportedly set a date for his return from injury at Inter Miami, with the Argentine superstar set to sit out two more MLS fixtures.

WHAT HAPPENED?
The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner was forced off early in the second half during a CONCACAF Champions Cup meeting with Nashville on March 13. With no risks being taken on his fitness, the Argentine icon played no part in a 3-1 win over D.C. United.

Messi has also been removed from the latest Argentina squad, allowing him to enjoy some light training sessions in Florida. The problem being nursed by the all-time great is not considered to be serious, but he will not be rushed back into action.

According to Diario Ole journalist Hernan Claus, Messi will be unavailable for a trip to the New York Red Bulls on Saturday. Tata Martino will also be without his talismanic captain for a home date with New York City FC on March 30. The plan is to have Messi back for a Champions Cup clash with Monterrey on April 3.
