Due to FIFA's planning, the team spent several hours waiting on buses first near the stadium, then at the airport and only arrived back at their hotel at around 5 a.m.

According to COPE, the performance on the pitch left Los Blancos satisfied, the behind-the-scenes chaos has sparked outrage within the club. They believe FIFA mishandled internal flight arrangements, leaving players physically drained with only a few hours to recover before their next training session. With a crucial round of 16 clash against Juventus looming, the club fears the disruption could affect their preparation.

Madrid players were stuck in transit for over six hours after their win, not because of airport delays, but due to FIFA’s failure to organise timely team flights, a responsibility they usually handle during the Club World Cup.

The Spanish giants return to training later the same day to prepare for their July 1 clash with Juventus. Meanwhile, internal club voices are demanding better coordination from FIFA to avoid a repeat of such travel issues in future rounds.
