Getty ImagesTHE BIGGER PICTURE
This development stems from a direct result of an ongoing internal conflict at Bayern. The club's sporting director, Max Eberl, is reportedly at odds with the supervisory board after he pushed through the sale of Kingsley Coman without their approval. The board is said to be angered that a replacement for Coman was not already lined up. This disagreement, coupled with the departure of other key players such as Thomas Muller and Leroy Sane, has left the squad dangerously thin. The result is a frantic search for loan signings, with Hojlund's name now joining a list of other Premier League-based players being considered.

While Hojlund has been offered to Bayern, he is unlikely to be the primary option as the club are looking for a more versatile attacker. Furthermore, the Danish striker would likely serve as a backup to star forward Harry Kane, which would have him end up in a similar kind of situation. The interest from Italy is likely more intense, especially after Napoli lost Romelu Lukaku to injury. Other players, including Jadon Sancho, Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson, have also been linked with loan moves as Bayern scramble to reinforce the squad before the September 1 transfer deadline.
AFPWHAT'S NEXT FOR BAYERN & HOJLUND?
Bayern's immediate priority is to address squad depth before the transfer window closes. On the other hand, Hojlund also needs to decide his next move after the Red Devils made it extremely clear to him that he will have to scramble for minutes at Old Trafford should he wishes to stay.
