French pair free to leave club in summer
United trigger extensions for Wan-Bissaka, Hannibal, Lindelof
WHAT HAPPENED?
Both players are out of contract with United this summer, meaning they are now free to negotiate with foreign clubs and can depart the club for free in June. United had initially communicated that Varane was under contract until 2025 when he signed for the club from Real Madrid but it has since emerged that the defender's deal expires in June. The club have the opportunity to trigger a one-year extension deal for both players, as they have done with Victor Lindelof, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Hannibal Mejbri.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Ten Hag refused to comment on the club's discussions with Borussia Dortmund over a potential move for Jadon Sancho but he revealed that Andre Onana is available for selection for Monday's FA Cup third round tie at Wigan Athletic following discussions with Cameroon. Onana has been picked in the Cameroon squad for the African Nations Cup but there is still a chance that he plays for United against Tottenham on January 14, the day before his country kick off their campaign against Guinea.

Martial has not completed 90 minutes for United in almost three years. The last time he finished a game was the 2-1 loss to Sheffield United on January 27, 2021.
