Porto's top 10 most expensive player sales

  • Jackson Martinez Porto 17012015

    #10 Jackson Martinez | €35m | Atletico Madrid | 2015

After joining from Mexican side Chiapas in 2012 for €8.8 million, Jackson Martinez featured in 90 Primeira Liga games for Porto, scoring 67 goals over three seasons.

In his first season at the club, he was the league's top scorer as he helped his side go unbeaten and win their third consecutive title.

Martinez repeated his heroics the following year, becoming the first player to be the division's top scorer in consecutive seasons since Mario Jardel topped the chart four times in a row between 1996 and 2000.

The Colombian's best performance came as a substitute against Shakhtar in a Champions League group stage game in 2014-15. The forward scored twice in four minutes to help Porto pull level after going two down to the Ukraine side.

At the end of that season, Atletico Madrid came calling and paid a hefty €35m for him.

  • Andre Silva Porto 07122016

    #9 Andre Silva | €38m | AC Milan | 2017

After making his debut for Porto in December 2015, Andre Silva became a mainstay in the team for the best part of two seasons.

Silva made 41 appearances for Porto over two years, scoring 17 goals before AC Milan came calling and agreed to pay a €38m fee for the Portuguese striker.

He spent three seasons at Milan but was sent on loan to Sevilla and then Eintracht Frankfurt.

Frankfurt decided to sign him permanently in September 2020 before RB Leipzig snapped him up for €23m in the summer of 2021.

  • Fabio Silva Porto 2019-20

    #8 Fabio Silva | €40m | Wolves | 2020

At 17 years and 22 days, Fabio Silva became the youngest player ever to feature for Porto.

He made just 12 league appearances in his breakout season in 2019-20 as he played for both the first and the reserve teams simultaneously.

After that solo season in the first-team, Porto struck gold as Premier League side Wolves agreed to pay a club record €40m for the striker.

The Portugal international spent two underwhelming seasons in the Premier League and was then loaned to Anderlecht in the summer of 2022.

At just 20 years old, he remains one to watch out for the future.

  • Hulk Radamel Falcao Porto

    #7 Radamel Falcao | €40m | Atletico Madrid | 2011

Radamel Falcao's name was making waves in European football from his days at River Plate, where he scored 45 goals in 111 appearances in all competitions across five years.

Porto's scouting team had been watching Falcao in early 2009 and signed him in the summer of that year for €3.93m after selling Lisandro Lopez to Lyon for €24m.

In his two seasons at Porto, Falcao put Europe on high alert as he scored 41 goals in just 51 matches.

Atletico Madrid were the first club to pounce on the opportunity to sign him and paid €40m for his signature in 2011.

Falcao went on to make over 90 appearances for Atletico, scoring 70 goals before moving to Monaco in 2013, followed by loan spells at Manchester United and Chelsea.

He joined Galatasaray in 2019 before featuring for his current team Rayo Vallecano in 2021.

  • hulk porto brazil

    #6 Hulk | €40m | Zenit | 2012

Hulk joined Porto from Japanese club Tokyo Verdy in 2008 after the Portuguese club bought 50% of his playing rights for €5.5m.

Between 2008 and 2012, Hulk became a hero at Porto by scoring 54 goals in 99 games, including many glorious efforts.

The Brazilian forward was then subject to interest from wealthy Russian club Zenit in 2012, who agreed to pay a premium €40m to Porto.

Hulk spent four-and-a-half years at Zenit, scoring 77 goals in almost 150 appearances.

  • Vitinha Porto 2021-22

    #5 Vitinha | €41.5m | PSG | 2022

After being promoted through the ranks at Porto, Vitinha made his senior debut in 2020. Over two seasons, he made 38 appearances and scored two goals.

After a season on loan at Wolves, Vitinha returned to Porto in 2021 and was able to establish himself as a key player for Porto, helping them win the domestic double.

The Primeira Liga's Young Player of the Year award winner captured interest from some of Europe's top clubs.

It was Paris Saint-Germain who managed to convince Vitinha to join them in the summer 2022 after triggering his release clause of €41.5m.

  • James Rodriguez Porto 2012-13

    #4 James Rodriguez | €45m | Monaco | 2013

Long before he announced himself to the world in style by winning the Golden Boot at the 2014 World Cup, James Rodriguez was shining at Porto.

He scored 32 goals across 108 appearances in all competitions in a three-year spell before he was sold to Monaco for a fee of €45m in 2013.

James spent just one season at Monaco, where he topped the league's assist chart in 2013-14 and then came up with incredible performances for Colombia at the World Cup in Brazil.

Porto would go on to regret their decision to sell the attacking midfielder as Real Madrid came calling just after the World Cup, agreeing to pay €75m for him in the summer of 2014.

  • Eliaquim Mangala Porto 2013

    #3 Eliaquim Mangala | €45m | Manchester City | 2014

After starting his club career at Standard Liege, Eliaquim Mangala joined then-Europa League champions Porto in 2011 for just €6.75m.

In his three seasons in Portugal, Mangala was one of their best players as he led them to win two league titles and two Portuguese Super Cups.

He was part of the Porto team that went undefeated for the whole 2012-13 season.

Then, in the summer of 2014, Manchester City came calling and snapped him up for €45m.

  • Luis Diaz Porto Man City Champions League 2020

    #2 Luis Diaz | €47m | Liverpool | 2022

After an incredible three years with Porto between 2019 and 2022 in which he helped them win two league title, two Portuguese Cups and the Portuguese Super Cup, Luis Diaz was sold to Liverpool in the summer of 2022 for an eye watering €47m.

The Colombian winger made 77 appearances for Porto, scoring 26 goals, which immediately attracted Jurgen Klopp's attention.

At Liverpool, Diaz has been decent, scoring seven goals in 21 appearances since joining in January 2022.

  • Eder Militao Porto

    #1 Eder Militao | €50m | Real Madrid | 2019

Eder Militao joined Porto from Sao Paulo in 2018, signing a five-year deal with the Portuguese champions.

In just one season with the Dragos, Eder cemented his position in the starting XI, with his best performances coming between September 2018 and January 2019, being named the Portuguese League's best defender in each of those months.

Eder's performances caught the eye of Real Madrid, who wasted no time and announced in March 2019 that they had signed the defender on a six-year deal after paying a €50m transfer fee.

The Brazilian star has since then won two league titles, the Supercopa de Espana on two occasions, a UEFA Super Cup and a Champions League crown with Real Madrid.
