'Back to work' - Neymar hits the grass as Brazil & Al-Hilal superstar steps up recovery from latest injury setback

The South American superstar has been unable to make the desired impact since moving to the Saudi Pro League in 2023. Knee ligament damage kept him sidelined for over 12 months, with only two appearances managed on his return before being sidelined again.

Fitness issues have become a source of frustration for all concerned, with there rumours to suggest that Al-Hilal were considering terminating the 32-year-old’s contract – allowing them to bring in another marquee addition, amid links to Portuguese icon Cristiano Ronaldo.

Neymar has, however, spoken of his determination to reward the faith shown in him by those in the Middle East. He is working on another rehabilitation programme and has returned to light training, with the Brazil international posting “back to work” on social media after stepping back onto the grass.

Neymar has been restricted to just seven outings for Al-Hilal, scoring one goal, but is tied to a contract through to the summer of 2025 that includes the option for a 12-month extension. He has spoken of his desire to honour that deal and grace the FIFA Club World Cup, before kicking on towards the next international World Cup in 2026.
