    THE BIGGER PICTURE

He has won every major honour available to him with City – including a historic treble triumph in 2022-23 – and has seen questions asked of what continues to motivate him in Manchester. There has been talk of the English FA making an approach for his services, with a permanent successor to Gareth Southgate being sought there.

  • WHAT GUARDIOLA SAID

Guardiola could agree to take the reins with England next summer, as Lee Carsley takes charge on an interim basis until then, but the 53-year-old tactician has told Italian TV show Che Tempo, Che Fa when asked about the Three Lions links: “No, those rumours are not true. If I had decided something I would say so. I could do anything.”
