‘Never gets old’ feeling for Mason Greenwood at Marseille as ex-Man Utd forward opens goal account in 2025-26

The former Manchester United forward generated plenty of transfer speculation early in the summer window. Admiring glances were shot in his direction after registering 21 Ligue 1 goals during his debut campaign in France.

That return was enough to earn him a share of the Golden Boot alongside Paris Saint-Germain’s Ballon d’Or contender Ousmane Dembele. Greenwood is now up and running in the new campaign.

The 23-year-old held his nerve to convert from the penalty spot in a meeting with Paris FC. Said effort opened the scoring for Marseille, as they swept their way to a comfortable 5-2 victory over top-flight newcomers.

Greenwood has become a fan favourite in Marseille, with those in the stands being given plenty to cheer. He posted on social media after getting supporters off their seats once more: “Scoring at the Velodrome never gets old, Big win, big team effort!”

Marseille will be returning to Champions League action this season, with Greenwood having a big role to play there. He has been linked with teams across Europe - including Juventus and Atletico Madrid - but appears set to stay put on a contract through to 2029.
