  • WHAT HAPPENED?

United had been among the frontrunners to snap up Delap this summer following Ipswich's relegation and were given permission to open negotiations with the 22-year-old. However, he has reportedly prioritised a move to Chelsea, forcing the Red Devils to look elsewhere.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Finding a new striker remains a top priority for the club and Give Me Sport reports they have reignited interest in Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani and Crystal Palace's Jean-Philippe Mateta. France international Kolo Muani struggled at the French side before he was loaned to Juventus halfway through the 2024-25 campaign, and it is claimed he could be available for £35 million ($47m). Mateta, meanwhile, has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for some time, but their lack of Champions League football may damage their hopes of signing him.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

United are also considering a move for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo, another report states, though his price tag of £60m ($81m) could turn them away due to budget constraints after they missed out on a place in next season's Champions League.

    WHAT NEXT FOR UNITED?

United slumped to 15th in the Premier League and will not compete in Europe next season, so Amorim will hope to bring in the perfect candidates to bolster his team.
