    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The departure of Anthony Martial on a free transfer has left a void in United's attacking lineup, prompting the need for reinforcements up front. Currently, Rasmus Hojlund is the only recognized striker in United's squad. While the 21-year-old Danish striker showed promise by scoring 16 goals in his debut season at Old Trafford, the club want to shore up their attack and provide competition to Hojlund.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Zirkzee, who enjoyed a productive season with Bologna, scoring 12 goals in 37 appearances, emerges as a viable target. The 23-year-old, with prior experience at Bayern Munich, comes with a release clause of £34 million ($43.2m) in his contract, making him an attractive prospect for United.

Meanwhile, Toney and David have caught the club's attention due to their imminent contract situations. Toney, a part of England's squad at Euro 2024, is entering the final year of his contract with Brentford. However, Brentford is expected to demand a hefty fee of more than £50m ($64m) for the English striker. Whereas, David, a 24-year-old Canadian international, impressed with his goal-scoring prowess at Lille, netting 26 goals last season, including 19 in Ligue 1. With his contract also nearing its end, United sees him as a potential solution to their attacking needs.
