Man Utd legend Sir Alex Ferguson sends message to Phil Parkinson as Wrexham boss celebrates huge milestone with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's side

Parkinson recently reached the extraordinary feat of 1,000 games as a professional manager, earning recognition from across the footballing world. Sir Alex made an appearance at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground on Saturday, not in support of the Hollywood-owned team but to cheer for Peterborough United, managed by his son Darren Ferguson. The legendary manager's presence also brought back memories, as he was once a regular spectator at Wrexham games when Darren played for the club from 1999 to 2007.

The match itself proved dramatic, with Darren Ferguson’s Peterborough United nearly spoiling Parkinson’s celebratory occasion. Despite the goalless draw persisting through most of the game, Steven Fletcher’s late header in the 87th minute ensured a 1-0 victory for Wrexham.

Before Wrexham’s match, Ferguson recorded a congratulatory message for Parkinson.

"1,000 games is fantastic - what an achievement," he said. "You've had many great, exciting journeys along the way. I wish you great success in your management - maybe not today - but other than that, well done."

Parkinson, now at 197 games in charge of Wrexham, has guided the club to 122 wins during his tenure. Under his leadership, Wrexham has climbed to third in the League One standings, level on points with second-placed Wycombe. The team remains focused on securing promotion, with their next challenge coming on Tuesday against Port Vale in the Football League Trophy third round.
