Man Utd legend Michael Carrick lands new job just three months after Middlesbrough sacking

In 2022, Carrick began his senior managerial journey at Boro and in his very first season, the Englishman guided the club to the play-offs. However, he failed to build on the progress he achieved in his maiden season as the club failed to make it into the top six in their next two campaigns. Carrick also played a crucial role in reviving the career of Arsenal flop Chuba Akpom in his first season, as the striker scored 28 goals and secured a transfer to Dutch giants Ajax the following year.  

After remaining out of work for three months, Carrick has got a new job, but this time off the pitch as he has joined Prime Video as a pundit, according to Joe. Carrick's stint as a pundit has started immediately as he was part of an expert panel during Tottenham's 1-0 win over Villarreal in their Champions League opener on Tuesday.

Following Wrexham's promotion to the Championship in the summer, their former player Matt Jansen had urged Hollywood co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney to appoint Carrick as their new manager in place of Phil Parkinson, however, the Red Dragons continued with their long-serving head coach.

Arsenal also got off to a winning start in the Champions League, beating Athletic Club 2-0 away from home. On Wednesday, Liverpool face Atletico Madrid, while on Thursday, Manchester City and Newcastle will be in action against Napoli and Barcelona, respectively. Carrick's former club United, however, can only watch on after failing to qualify for the competition.
