    Premier League strugglers United were able to surprise Arsenal in their FA Cup third-round clash as the Red Devils beat the Gunners in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw. While the game was goalless near the end of the first half, Fernandes was in a good position but was caught by Gabriel Jesus, but the referee did not blow for a foul prompting the Portugal international to throw his boot in anger which resulted in referee Andy Madley brandishing a yellow card.

    As per William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps, Fernandes' yellow card helped a lucky punter land a 4000/1 FA Cup third-round bet builder on a seven-fold accumulator of £1. The seven-fold also included Gabriel Magalhaes, Kai Havertz and Kobbie Mainoo being shown a yellow card, Fernandes and Martin Odegaard having at least one shot on target, and Gabriel scoring a goal.

    Fernandes gave United a 1-0 lead early in the second half with a fantastic strike that saw him overtake David Beckham in the club's list of top scorers. He also scored the first penalty of the shootout, which United won 5-3.
