Man Utd in 'advanced talks' to sign Manuel Ugarte from PSG with Red Devils 'optimistic' of sealing transfer before summer deadline

Per Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth, the Red Devils are closing in on a deal for Ugarte in the ongoing summer transfer window. While both United and PSG would prefer a permanent transfer, there remains a possibility of an initial loan move with an obligation to buy next season.

It was earlier reported that United were keen on signing the Uruguay international as they look to rebuild their squad under Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS group's leadership. However, the club considered the valuation of the midfielder too high as the Ligue 1 champions were demanding £51 million ($66.2m).

Ugarte reportedly has been deemed surplus to Luis Enrique's needs which has given confidence to the Manchester club that they will be able to complete the transfer before the transfer window shuts.

After making a winning start to their 2024-25 Premier League campaign against Fulham last week, Erik ten Hag's side will next face Brighton on Saturday away from home.
