Man City slapped with £120k fine for failing to control players during dramatic Tottenham clash that left Erling Haaland screaming at referee

The City players reacted angrily towards referee Simon Hooper after he blew the whistle to award Pep Guardiola's team a free-kick despite initially playing the advantage. The decision halted a potential goalscoring opportunity for City right at the end of the game as Haaland had just played the ball forward for Jack Grealish.

Haaland screamed at the referee as the decision angered the reigning champions, who were charged by the FA following the incident and hit with a fine on Monday. A statement from the governing body read: "Manchester City FC have been fined £120,000 after their players surrounded a match official at the Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur FC on Sunday 3 December. Manchester City FC admitted that they failed to ensure their players did not behave in an improper way during the 94th minute. An independent Regulatory Commission imposed this sanction following a hearing."

City boss Guardiola defended his players from criticism following their reaction to Hooper's call. The manager insisted his team have "behaved incredibly this season" but said they would accept whichever decision the FA made about the incident.

City suffered another slip up on Saturday as they surrendered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Crystal Palace. They have now won just one of their last six Premier League matches and they will hope to get back to winning ways when they meet Everton on December 27.
