Luis Henrique: “I’m not at Inter to make up the numbers”

"The role at Inter? A great experience, a huge learning curve. It demands a lot from me physically and in terms of concentration, because I have to help out defensively without losing my attacking qualities.

I like having the freedom to attack, make the most of my pace, look for one-on-one situations and get closer to the box. I have always been a more attack-minded player, so I like being involved in attacking moves. I'm understanding the role of the wide player better and better, and I think this is helping me grow as a player."

"The most important thing is to be willing to learn. When you change position, you have to understand it's not just about running more or marking with great intensity. There's a whole tactical side to it, involving positioning, cover and reading the game.

You have to know when to press, when to close down in the box and when you can move forward in attack. For me, it was crucial to listen to the coaches and my team-mates and understand what the team need from me".

"Every country has taught me different things. In Brazil I learned a lot about creativity, improvisation and a more natural way of playing.

France gave me a very intense, physical and fast style of football. In Italy I am learning a lot about tactics. There is huge attention here to positioning, space and reading every moment of the match.

It is a style of football where a player must always stay focused and understand exactly what is happening on the pitch. This experience is helping me see the game in a more complete way"

"The national team is a goal. Every Brazilian player who reaches this level dreams of wearing the national team shirt. I follow the players in this group and I know there's a lot of quality.

In the last call-up, Wesley and Matheuzinho [right-backs] were called up, and I know they're great players. Every player has their own characteristics, and I have to focus on developing mine. I have my pace, my strength in one-on-ones, my ability to attack space, and now I'm also working hard on my defensive recovery and on playing a more complete role.

If I can be consistent and help Inter, I believe the opportunity can come".
