'Oh my god!' - Outgoing Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp reveals he was gobsmacked by quality of 16-year-old USMNT star Christian Pulisic during time at Borussia Dortmund

Pulisic arrived at Dortmund in 2015 from PA Classics, in Klopp's final season in charge at the Bundesliga club. Of course, the German tactician is currently counting down to his last-ever Liverpool game this weekend, and he reflected on just how good Pulisic was as a teenager.

Having arrived at the age of 16, the USMNT winger began training with Dortmund's first team, before making his senior debut the following campaign, and Klopp knew he was destined for stardom. Of course, Pulisic developed into a star at Dortmund before moving to Chelsea in 2019, and then on to AC Milan in 2023.

Klopp told the Anfield Wrap: "I had when I left Dortmund, Pulisic came through, so I had him as a 16-year-old in training and I thought 'Oh my God! Wow!' And then you see him later, at Chelsea, doing well now at AC Milan. I would love to stay with all the people in the building."

Klopp will take in his final game in charge at Liverpool on Sunday when the Reds welcome Wolves to Anfield. He is sure to get a fittingly emotional send-off after a trophy-laden spell on Merseyside.
