Liverpool dealt Alexander Isak blow after rumours of record-breaking transfer

Liverpool have been linked with Newcastle star Isak, who scored 23 Premier League goals during the 2024-25 season as the Magpies qualified for the Champions League. The Reds are already closing in on an eye-watering £116m move for Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz and have been rumoured as interested in the 25-year-old Sweden international.

According to The Telegraph, despite a social media frenzy suggesting otherwise, there is currently nothing imminent in regards to a transfer to Liverpool for Isak. Arne Slot's side have an obvious admiration for the former Real Sociedad star, like many teams around Europe, but there have been no conversations between the clubs or even an inquiry from the Reds.

A move for Isak would reportedly set Liverpool back more than £150m and perhaps even cost the Premier League champions nearly as much as the world record £200m Paris Saint-Germain forked out for Neymar in 2017.

With major developments needed for a transfer to materialise, Isak looks likely to remain at St James' Park this summer. Eddie Howe's side recently learned their fixture list for the 2025-26 Premier League season and will start their campaign with matches against Aston Villa, Liverpool and Leeds.
