Liverpool finally AGREE Alexander Isak record transfer as Newcastle wantaway pencilled in for deadline day medical

BBC Sport are among those to report that a deal has been lined up for the Swedish forward to swap St James’ Park for Anfield, at the end of a window that has been dominated by speculation regarding his future.

Liverpool saw a £110m ($149m) offer rejected earlier in the summer, with Newcastle reluctant to part with a prized asset that they have tied to a contract. Isak has, however, made it clear that he wants out of Tyneside.

The 25-year-old removed himself from training at one stage, as he worked alone, having been left out of Eddie Howe’s pre-season plans due to a supposed “minor thigh injury”. Isak claimed that promises had been “broken” and that his “relationship can’t continue” with the Magpies.

With another deadline fast approaching, Isak appears set to get his wish and link up with the reigning Premier League champions. Newcastle have reluctantly agreed to a sale after snapping up German frontman Nick Woltemade in a club-record deal.

It is reported that Isak will undergo a medical on Monday before penning a six-year contract on Merseyside. He will become the most expensive player in British football and complete a summer of big spending from Arne Slot’s ambitious Liverpool.
