Lionel Scaloni misses Argentina press conference due to health issue after Lionel Messi-inspired World Cup qualifying victory over Peru

The Argentina manager stood on the sidelines during his team's 1-0 win over Peru on Tuesday in a 2026 World Cup CONMEBOL qualifying clash. Lionel Messi provided the assist for Lautaro Martinez's only goal as the reigning world champions secured three vital points.

Per MDZ, via FOOTBOOM, Scaloni sat in the Argentina dugout despite suffering from a stomach issue, however, he chose to skip the post-match press conference as his assistant Walter Samuel addressed the media instead. This was La Albiceleste's final game of 2024 as their next qualifiers are scheduled during the March international break.

At the post-match press conference, Samuel confirmed Scaloni's health problem as he said: "Leo wasn't feeling well and asked me to come and answer your questions. It's nothing to worry about."
