    After notching two goals and an assist for the second-straight game, Messi was named MLS Player of the Matchday for his performances at the weekend.

    It's Messi's second time winning the award this campaign, with the Argentina and Suarez having combined for four of the awards through 11 matches this season, equaling a total set in 2008 by LA Galaxy duo Landon Donovan and David Beckham.

    The Argentine and his Uruguayan compatriot have been running the Eastern Conference into the ground this season, with Messi accumulating nine goals and four assists in MLS action while Suarez has seven goals and four assists.
