  • Yamal set up Ferran in Antwerp defeat
  • Becomes youngest UCL assist-maker
  • Record previously held by Bojan
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

At just 16 years of age, Yamal is already up to 20 competitive appearances for Liga giants Barca while earning four senior international caps for Spain. Given his age, records have tumbled around the teenager as he reaches the very top of the game.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

He was at it again in his latest Champions League appearance, with an assist provided for Ferran Torres in a meeting with Royal Antwerp. In teeing up a grateful team-mate, Yamal has become the youngest player to register an assist in Europe’s most prestigious club competition.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

That record was previously held by fellow La Masia academy graduate Bojan Krkic – who was 17 years and 91 days old when setting up an effort for Barca back in November 2007. Yamal is just 16 years and 153 days old, with it likely to take some time before anybody gets close to his latest piece of sporting history.

  • WHAT NEXT FOR YAMAL & BARCELONA?

While Yamal continues to thrive as an individual, Barca have become stuck in a rut as a collective. They eventually slipped to a 3-2 defeat against Antwerp and have emerged victorious in just three of their last seven games in all competitions.
