The City captain's signing has been made a top priority for Milan in the January transfer window and while he is eager to make the switch, Calciomercato reports that the Serie A side are instead proposing a loan move. The Rossoneri are willing to pay €1 million up front for the loan, but will have the option to buy him outright in the summer for around €5m.
The 34-year-old's contract with City runs until 2026, meaning he could be back in the Premier League if Milan decide against signing him on a permanent basis in the summer.
