  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Garnacho has riled Manchester United fans after posting a picture on his Instagram account of him on holiday wearing Rashford's shirt. The two wingers are set to leave the club on a permanent basis this summer after falling out with Amorim. Rashford joined Villa on loan in January after being outcast from the squad by Amorim in January, while the coach told Garnacho he would have to find another club following his reaction to being left out of the starting line-up for the Europa League final.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

United fans are not the only ones to be annoyed about the post, which is the latest of many missteps by Garnacho on social media. Former Watford striker Troy Deeney was left furious with Garnacho, who he labelled a "little dope" and he urged United captain Fernandes to put the 20-year-old in his place when they meet up again for pre-season training. That is, if Garnacho has not already been sold by then.

  • WHAT DEENEY SAID

Deeney told talkSPORT: "If it was me at Man United and I was [Bruno] Fernandes I’d wait until he came back and first day I’d just smash him, I would, I’m not trying to make headlines, I’d just smash him, this is Man United, who do you think you are? You little dope."

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Deeney suspects that Garnacho has already accepted he is leaving United and he took aim at the younger generation of footballers, who he believes do not have the same sense of respect as his generation. He added: "He doesn't want to [get back in the team], he must have a move lined up and he’s playing it that way. It’s a new generation so I’ve got to try and not sound like an old man and be grumpy, but they just need a clip round the ear half of these. They’re bored and they’ve got no respect, respect is something that is spoken about now, it’s not earned."

    WHAT NEXT FOR GARNACHO?

United begin their pre-season preparations on July 7 although Garnacho will likely have found a new destination by then. Napoli and Chelsea showed interest in signing him last January while Bayer Leverkusen, managed by his former boss Erik ten Hag, are also reported to be keen on a move for the Argentina international.
