Jurgen Klopp gives verdict on Arne Slot replacing him as Liverpool manager with current Reds boss praising Dutchman's work at Feyenoord

Slot has conveyed his eagerness to make the move to Liverpool, expressing confidence that an agreement could be reached between the two clubs with a compensation package nearing £13 million being discussed. And Klopp has welcomed Slot's public declaration of interest in taking over the reins at Anfield and expressed his appreciation for the style of football implemented by the Dutch manager at Feyenoord.

Speaking to reporters, Klopp said: "I'm not involved in the process, but I like a lot about it if he is the one and wants to take the job. I like the way his team plays football. All the things I hear about him as a guy - a good guy. Some people I know, know him. I don't know him, but some people who know him say he's a good guy. I like that a lot. So a good coach, a good guy. Looking forward for the club, if he is the solution, if he is the man, I am more than happy."

When pressed on how he would brief Slot about the job, Klopp added: "Best job in the world. Best club in the world, and it helps, obviously, with not finishing on a high, it looks like. Great job, great team, fantastic people. [Slot] 'would' [Klopp makes quote marks sign with his fingers] be taking a really interesting job."

Reflecting on Liverpool's recent defeat to Everton, Klopp admitted to feeling a profound sense of disappointment and frustration and accepted that it is now a two-horse race for the title between ARsenal & Manchester City.

“I can’t remember ever being as disappointed and frustrated as I was after the Everton game, I lost a lot of games in my life but it was special we were not there," he said.

"I cannot say I think they still feel us around, I am pretty sure Arsenal and City now see it as a two-horse race, they have to say something else publicly but I don’t expect them to lose two games.”

Liverpool would look to return to winning ways when they play West Ham on Saturday in an afternoon kickoff at the London Stadium.
