Jose Mourinho coming to a screen near you! Legendary Roma boss reveals upcoming Netflix documentary - and why some people will think he is an ‘idiot’ in it

The charismatic Portuguese coach – who has previously worked at Chelsea, Inter, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Tottenham – has allowed cameras to follow his life in the dugout and away from football. Fans are about to get a look at what Mourinho is all about.

The 60-year-old tactician has never been one to hold his tongue, and he concedes that his behaviour – which has already made plenty of headlines down the years – may not be to everybody’s taste. He does, however, pride himself on being brutally honest at all times and is making no secret of the fact that big-money offers from outside of Italy continue to come his way.

Mourinho told reporters after seeing Roma edge out Cremonese 2-1 in the last-16 of the Coppa Italia on Wednesday: “I’ll give you some news, a documentary about me starts on Netflix, it’s a documentary about my career and it starts on Thursday. There are things that will only be known there, they pay me well. I hadn’t signed with Roma yet, but I had given my word. A club came along and wanted me to break my agreement with Roma, which hadn’t yet been signed, and I said no. When the documentary comes out everyone will say I’m a total idiot. When Portugal arrived I immediately told the president about it. When Saudi Arabia arrived I immediately told the president about it. This is why I don’t think they talk to other coaches behind my back, for me it’s not like that because there is reciprocity.”

Mourinho, who has admitted in the recent past that he expects to join the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in the Middle East at some stage, will see his current contract at Roma expire in the summer of 2024. He has hinted at agreeing a new deal at Stadio Olimpico as he approaches three years of service in the Italian capital.
