WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Lingard trained with <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/revealed-how-jesse-lingard-cost-west-ham-thousands-pounds-unsuccessful-trial-hotel-travel-costs/blt3866b020bfc337ae" target="_blank">former club West Ham</a> over the summer, but the Hammers decided against offering him a contract. The ex-England international then came close to a move to Saudi Arabia after training with Steven Gerrard's Al-Ettifaq, but<a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/jesse-lingard-steven-gerrard-al-ettifaq/bltb9233f8b7869f5fe" target="_blank"> talks reportedly broke down over his wage demands</a>.</p>

<p>The 30 year old clearly has years left in him, but where he ends up playing next remains to be seen.
