  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Rashford has suffered a sharp decline in form after an impressive 30-goal campaign in 2022-23, which has exposed him to criticism from fans and pundits. However, he has regained his finishing touch in 2024 with goals in his last two Premier League appearances, including a superb finish in United's 2-2 draw against Tottenham. After scoring, he celebrated with a hand gesture designed to silence his critics, which Keane didn't take kindly to.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

While working as a pundit with Sky Sports, the former United midfielder questioned Rashford's celebration and expressed the need to see more from the striker.

"We need to see more, he's showed it before, he's got the quality," Keane said. Why does he seem to be upset with everybody? He's got to go and enjoy it he's playing for Man United."

  • HOW DID RASHFORD RESPOND

Rashford seemingly responded to Keane's comments by sharing upbeat training photos on social media. In each of the photos he is seen smiling, and in one of the pictures with his strike partner Rasmus Hojlund the England international even burst into laughter.

The caption, which seemed to be an apparent dig at Keane, read: "So, he does smile. Have a great day, my people!😃❤️"

Rashford also faced flak from United fans for commenting on Jadon Sancho's Instagram post about returning to Borussia Dortmund. He commented 'Yesirrrrr' alongside a heart, which rubbed many United supporters the wrong way, and a few even labelled him as disloyal.

After his controversial celebration against Tottenham, a fan wrote in his defence: "He's clearly referring to the abuse he's been subjected to this week since he commented on Sancho's post. They literally questioned his loyalty and commitment to us, and he did shut them up by scoring AND assisting. If he didn't score, he's s***e, if he does it's this BS."

Rashford replied to the comment: "Thank you for clarifying this matter."
