What a volley! Harry Kane nets a double to spark Bayern back into life in crucial win against RB Leipzig

When the Bayern fans were clamouring for a hero, Kane rose to the occasion to fire his side over the line against Leipzig on Saturday evening at Allianz Arena. His first goal was an expert finish as he fired his attempt into the bottom corner after Jamal Musiala put him through. However, the joy was short-lived as Benjamin Sesko's strike from inside the box deflected off Leon Goretzka to nestle at the back of the net. When it seemed that the spoils would be shared between the two teams, Kane emerged as the difference-maker as he rifled in a left-footed volley after Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting set him up.

It was Bayern's 1000th game in the Bundesliga and Kane ensured that the Bayern faithful had enough to cheer to mark the momentous occasion. The English striker now has 27 goals in Germany's top flight, which is six more than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues - Kylian Mbappe is in the second spot with 21 strikes.

It was a much-needed victory for Bayern after the shock defeat to Bochum in their last match. They still trail leaders Leverkusen by eight points and hence cannot afford to slip further when they face Freiburg next Friday.
