'Tough boy' Harry Kane told he's 'changed his game a bit' by Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers as Bayern prepare for Champions League play-off

Rodgers, who spent a considerable portion of his managerial career in the Premier League with the likes of Liverpool and Leicester City, has faced Kane on numerous occasions. The Northern Irish coach has seen the evolution of Kane into a world-class player, and ahead of facing his Bayern Munich side in the Champions League, the Celtic boss spoke highly of the England captain.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the match, Rodgers said: "I’ve known Harry for a long time and come across him many times. Only when you face him do you see his level. I know he came through the system at Tottenham, had lots of loans and was given the opportunity by Tim Sherwood. You look at him now, a world-class player, but he has changed his game a bit.

"He’s also a tough boy now. I can’t speak highly enough of him. You just need to look at his goal record. A fantastic player and a good guy. With top players, you have to look tactically and try to nullify their strengths. But they will always find space. We have to look at how to nullify that threat with their other quality players. We have shown we can hurt teams at this level."

Kane picked up right where he left off at Bayern Munich last season as he is currently leading the European Golden Show race alongside Mohamed Salah, with 21 strikes in the Bundesliga to his name. His form has been crucial in keeping the Bavarian club eight points clear at the top of the table as they look to reclaim the German title.

After facing Celtic on Wednesday in Glasgow, Kane and Co will return to the Bundesliga on Saturday as they take on reigning champions and title rivals Bayer Leverkusen.
