'Our first defender' - Harry Kane hailed by Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel as the 'complete package' after continuing red-hot form against Wolfsburg

Kane remains on course to break the record for the most goals in a Bundesliga season after netting his 21st goal in just 15 appearances with a thunderstrike against the White and Greens on Wednesday evening. However, Tuchel believes that Kane's impact isn't limited to goalscoring and lauded the England skipper's defensive contributions, ball retention, and leadership qualities, referring to him as the complete package.

Speaking to reporters, Tuchel said: "If you look at his goal and the way he played in the second half, he was our first defender. How he holds on to the ball, tracks back, defends - his performances have been top. He's a top personality, leader, top player - the complete package."

With 38 league goals in 2023, encompassing both the second half of the previous season with Tottenham and the current season with Bayern, Kane has outshone his peers in Europe's top five leagues. Whereas, he leads the overall scoring charts with 51 strikes, one more than Erling Haaland and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Kane overtook Robert Lewandowski's goal tally with his goal against Wolfsburg within this timeframe, as the Polish had netted 20 goals in 15 matches, en route to his record-breaking 2020-21 season in Bundesliga where he ended up with 41 goals.

Kane is now looking forward to a well-earned Christmas break when he plans to head out to the beach with his family. He will return to action against Hoffenheim on January 13 at the Allianz Arena.
