  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    After spending his last two seasons as a player at MLS club LAFC, the Italy legend brought the curtain down on his illustrious career last month. But even after retirement, he is all set to remain associated with The Black and Golds as he has been appointed as the club's Player Development Coach.

  • WHAT HAS BEEN SAID

    After announcing their association with the former defender, LAFC co-president and general manager, John Thorrington told the club's official website, "We were thankful to have Giorgio play the final 18 months of his playing career with LAFC. During that time he proved what an asset he is for LAFC in a number of ways, and we are excited to add a truly brilliant football mind, incredible leader and an even better person to our staff for the upcoming season."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    The 39-year-old former Juventus star appeared in 45 matches across all competitions for LAFC in the two seasons he spent at the club and scored one goal. He won the 2022 Supporters' Shield and 2022 MLS Cup titles with the club and finished runners-up in the 2023 CONCACAF Champions League.
