The draw for the third round of the FA Cup was made on Monday and Manchester City were drawn against Salford City. The League Two side are famously owned by members of the famed Manchester United Class of '92. In 2014, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Phil Neville, and Paul Scholes each bought 10% of the club, with Singaporean businessman Peter Lim owning the rest. In 2019, David Beckham joined the gang and bought 10% of the stake to make him an equal owner of Salford City alongside his former team-mates.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Manchester City are in terrifyingly bad form at the moment as Guardiola's side are winless in their last seven matches. The defending Premier League champions were convincingly beaten by Liverpool last weekend at Anfield, and Reds fans mocked Guardiola that he would get 'sacked in the morning' during the match.

  • WHAT NEVILLE SAID

Salford City co-owner Neville has now echoed the Liverpool fans' belief as he hopes his side will strike the knockout blow to Manchester City to get Guardiola sacked from his post.

On X, Neville said: "He’s getting sacked in the morning @SalfordCityFC."

    WHAT NEXT FOR SALFORD?

The League Two side are 15th in the table and, despite City's form, will have to perform a miracle if they're to dump the seven-time FA Cup winners out of the competition.
