'Far from the day of saying goodbye' - André Jardine on speculation about his departure from América

André Jardine rebuffed rumors about a potential departure from Club América. A few days ago, Brazil's 4-1 loss to Argentina in the World Cup qualifiers led to social media speculation about him replacing the current coach, Dorival Junior.

América's coach ruled out the possibility of leaving the club, saying "I feel like that day of saying goodbye is very far away. I'm really happy here."

Jardine already has experience coaching the Brazil national team, although it's worth noting that he worked with the youth teams. However, the current Club América coach did an excellent job with the U23 team, as he led them to win the Olympic gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Jardine is the subject of interest from several clubs. The Brazilian is currently one of the top-performing coaches, having led América to three consecutive Liga MX titles and now holding the first place in the Clausura 2025, aiming for a fourth consecutive championship.

Jardine had the opportunity to leave the team before this tournament started and head back to his home country, as he admitted receiving an important offer from Botafogo that he considered for several days. In the end, the coach clarified that he wanted to continue winning more titles with the Águilas, whom he considers his family.

América is set to face Cruz Azul in the Champions Cup quarterfinals, a tournament that has eluded the Brazilian coach.

"The option of staying here when I had the opportunity to leave a few months ago has to do with being part of this, trying to write this name in these beautiful years we're living. I feel like there’s still so much more to write, it's hard to predict when the time to leave will come, but I feel like that day of saying goodbye is very far away. I'm really happy."

Jardine's team, currently sitting in first place in the Clausura 2025 with 27 points, will host Tigres, who are third in the standings, this Saturday at the Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes in Matchday 13 of the tournament.
