  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Chelsea’s 22-year-old sensation, Palmer, has taken the Premier League by storm, becoming one of the most talked-about young talents in English football. Since the start of the 2023-24 season, Palmer has accumulated an astonishing 50 combined goals and assists, a milestone unmatched by any other player in the league during this period. This season he has 11 goals and six assists to show for his efforts and his recent brace against Tottenham inspired Chelsea to a comeback win over their London rivals.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Palmer’s meteoric rise and consistent performances have not only made him a key player for Chelsea but also a target for some of the biggest clubs in Europe. He has already been linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid and Gallas fears that either Los Blancos or Barcelona will come calling for Palmer in the future with an offer that the forward simply can't turn down.

  • WHAT GALLAS SAID

Speaking to Prime Casino, Gallas said: "At the moment, I think only Real Madrid and Barcelona could tempt Cole Palmer away from Chelsea and I think he would thrive playing his football in Spain. That could be three seasons in the future, but I think Chelsea fans should hope that neither of those clubs come in for him any time soon."

    WHAT NEXT FOR PALMER?

Chelsea, however, hold a significant advantage in any future negotiation as Palmer is contracted to the club until 2033. This extended commitment ensures that any move away from Stamford Bridge would come on the Blues' terms with the club likely to demand a massive transfer fee if he keeps performing in the same vein. He will be back in action when Chelsea host Brentford on Sunday in a London derby.
