WHAT HAPPENED?
The penalty imposed by the Premier League last week for Everton's breach of profit and sustainability regulations has sparked a backlash among the club's supporters. Indeed, furious fans are busily preparing protests ahead of Everton's match against Manchester United on November 26. While the club have vowed to appeal the sanction, supporters groups have highlighted the need for wider change in the Premier League.

While the sanction has provoked the wrath of club, fans and local MPs alike, Kelly was keen to highlight the greater need for change within English football. The UK government recently announced plans to introduce an independent regulator to oversee the domestic game and Kelly has backed calls to speed up the implementation of the new law.
GettyWHAT NEXT FOR EVERTON FANS?
Toffees fans could not have asked for a bigger platform on which to demonstrate their anger with their first game since the sanction coming at home in the most high-profile television slot of the weekend. A febrile atmosphere is expected at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon, with a planned 10th-minute mass protest sending Sky Sports scrambling to comply with UK broadcast regulations.
