Emiliano Martinez desperate to complete 'dream' Man Utd transfer this summer as World Cup winner eyes Aston Villa exit

Aston Villa goalkeeper Martinez is desperate to join Manchester United this summer in what would be a "dream" transfer for the Argentine, The Sunreports. Martinez is pushing for the move amid the uncertainty surrounding current United No. 1 Andre Onana's future at the club.

The report adds that Man Utd head coach Amorim is looking for "captains and leaders" as he plans a major squad overhaul, with the Portuguese said to be a big admirer of the 2022 World Cup-winning custodian. Amorim, the report reveals, was determined to sign Martinez for Sporting CP in 2020, but missed out with Aston Villa winning the transfer race. He could, however, fulfill his wish to work with Martinez this summer, as the 32-year-old seemingly bid a tearful adieu to Villa in May.

United are considering parting ways with Onana this summer after two forgettable seasons in goal from the Cameroonian. Monaco are reportedly keeping tabs on Onana's situation at Old Trafford and would be happy to sign him.

The Argentine international has also received offers from Galatasaray, but Martinez has stalled them in favour of an approach from the Red Devils. Villa, meanwhile, have already started planning for life after Martinez. Indeed, Unai Emery's side are eyeing a move for highly-rated Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier.
