'The board should be embarrassed' - Arsenal fans lose their minds as transfer target Alexander Isak tears Gunners apart in Carabao Cup semi-final capitulation at Newcastle

The Gunners went down 2-0 at Newcastle in the second leg of the tie as the Magpies progressed to the final with a 4-0 aggregate win. Star striker and long-term Arsenal transfer target Alexander Isak was particularly dangerous, while the Arteta's side were toothless and failed to test goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.

Gunners supporters turned their anger towards the club's higher-ups, pointing out their failure to sign a striker in the winter transfer window.

"The board should be embarrassed with themselves, if they don’t deliver in the summer they need to go," Arsenal supporter @N7Gunner wrote on X.

"Newcastle with Isak and Arsenal with Havertz. Arteta should be sacked," said @AbdulUnkut. "He actually didn’t even bother getting a striker on loan any decent striker can do better than Havertz."

Another user, @OfOkija, wrote: "Arsenal really drank 2-0 home and away from Eddie Howe and Dan Burn. These people are very useless", while @SGems90 reacted: "Pleasing, Arteta is a fraud".

Arsenal fan @AydeeLAHK said: "The Arteta era is over, not like it ever begun - let me not digress. Time to bring in a serious manager. One that knows what he’s doing. Been there done that."

Referencing the reaction to the weekend's 5-1 win against Manchester City, @tridevgurung wrote: "Arsenal fans shouting “be humble” the whole week just to get out of the only cup competition they might have won this season."

"The greatest thing about Arsenal is the fact they’re Arsenal. It’s brilliant," said @SussexTottenham.

Arsenal had been expected to sign a forward in the transfer window before it closed on Monday, with Arteta admitting his side were "very short" of options in attack. They reportedly made a bid to sign Ollie Watkins but Aston Villa refused to sell after having already sold Jhon Duran to Al-Nassr.

Arteta expressed his disappointment on Tuesday, telling reporters: "We had a clear intention which is always there is a window open to explore the opportunities to improve our squad with players that can impact it. We haven’t achieved it so we are disappointed in that sense but as well we are very aware that we only want to bring ­certain kinds of players and we have to be very disciplined with that and I think we will."

Having already crashed out of the FA Cup, Arteta's players will not be in action this weekend and will hope to return to winning ways when they meet struggling Leicester in the Premier League on February 15.
