  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Ederson and Savinho are both set to miss out on Manchester City's Premier League opener against Wolves at Molineux Stadium on Saturday. It could be possible that the dropping of the Brazilian duo could be due to their uncertain future with the Citizens. However, Guardiola has claimed that Savinho has suffered an injury and will be out for a few weeks, while adding that Ederson's absence does not stem from his transfer situation.

    WHAT GUARDIOLA SAID

Speaking to the media about Ederson and Savinho, Guardiola said: "Ederson didn't come to me and said he wanted to leave or he has an offer. All the players here are our players and I want them. What's going to happen in three weeks, nobody knows. Savinho is injured; he will need a few weeks.”

When questioned about Savinho's transfer speculation, the Catalan tactician added: “All I can say right now is that Savinho will be part of Manchester City till the end of the season, and hopefully for many more years to come. If they want to leave, they [Savinho and Ederson] will come to me and knock on my door."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Savinho has been trying to push for a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer as the Brazilian winger has been looking for consistent minutes with his eye on the 2026 World Cup. Meanwhile, Ederson's desires are muddier, the goalkeeper has claimed that he wants to stay with Manchester City, however, transfer speculation keeps brewing with a move to Galatasaray reported heavily, as the Citizens have been linked with Paris Saint-Germain outcast Gianluigi Donnarumma.

  • WHAT NEXT FOR THE BRAZILIAN DUO?

The departures of Savinho and Ederson are still some ways away; however, the former currently looks like the likelier candidate to leave Manchester City first. Nonetheless, what is certain is that the pair will not be a part of Manchester City's squad for the Premier League opener against Wolves on Saturday, August 16.
