The 28-year-old forward passed away alongside his brother Andre Silva on July 3. Jota was involved in a car accident when travelling through northern Spain to a ferry port that would have seen him return to England for pre-season training.
Liverpool have announced that they will be retiring their No.20 jersey, with the Premier League champions saying: "After consultation with his wife, Rute, and family, the club can announce the squad number will be retired in honour and memory of Diogo across all levels, including LFC Women and Academy."
SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO JOTA
The Reds have also continued to include Jota on the squad list that features on the club’s official website. After a run down of the goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and forwards, a special "forever" spot is reserved for Jota.
