Deadline day for Alvaro Morata as Como and AC Milan demand Galatasaray green light or transfer will collapse

After weeks of stalling from Galatasaray over terminating Morata’s loan, a frustrated Como and Milan have set a deadline for Wednesday, August 6. The Spanish striker has already agreed personal terms with Como, while the Rossoneri, who currently hold his registration, have also reached an agreement with the club for a permanent transfer. 

However, the final hurdle remains Galatasaray, who are demanding a €6 million payout to terminate the striker’s loan deal early. Notably, Morata was loaned to the Turkish club in January this year in a deal that included an obligation to buy for €8 million in January 2026. Galatasaray already paid €6m for the initial loan, and are now reluctant to let go without compensation.  

Como, who are actively seeking the 32-year-old striker, have reportedly offered €3 million to Galatasaray in an attempt to help Milan manage the cost of an early termination. If accepted, Milan would only need to pay around €5-6 million to exit the loan, clearing the path for Morata to join Como. The Spanish forward, who refused to report back to Galatasaray for pre-season, is pushing hard for a move and a fresh start in Italy.

The 32-year-old scored six goals and registered three assists in 12 appearances for the Turkish giants last season before the transfer saga began.   

Cesc Fabregas played alongside Morata for both Spain and Chelsea. Their potential reunion in Italy would mark the first time Fabregas manages a former teammate at club level. 

Morata continues to skip Galatasaray's pre-season training as he anxiously awaits the final green light from the Turkish club. If Cimbom fails to respond or accept the compromise deal by the end of Wednesday, the entire move could collapse, adding another heartbreak for the veteran striker following his costly missed penalty against Portugal in the Nations League final.
