Alejandro Garnacho ‘teased’ over love for Cristiano Ronaldo in Argentina camp as Leandro Paredes reveals Albiceleste team-mates drove Man Utd starlet ‘crazy’

According to Argentina and Roma midfielder Paredes, he and his international teammates did not waste the chance to rib Garnacho for idolising Ronaldo. Most young Argentine players grow up wanting to be Lionel Messi, but the Manchester United youngster has never hidden his admiration for the Portuguese star.

Garnacho paid tribute to his idol last month by performing Ronaldo's famous 'siiiuu' celebration after scoring an incredible overhead kick against Everton. The 19-year-old attacker received his first senior Argentina call-up in March, and it appears that his countrymen have not cut him any slack for sucking up to Messi's great rival.

Speaking to DSports - via Roy Nemer - Paredes said: "We joked about it with him. He is very shy and does not answer. Poor guy, we drove him crazy. We also talked to him about what the group is, somehow we try to make them feel part of it and feel comfortable. Although in this case he got very nervous and couldn't talk. But as he said, I think he is his idol, he always followed him a lot and he plays quite similar. So it's normal, nothing happens. Obviously, when he comes to the national team he has to change a little bit because there is ours."

Garnacho will be keen to return to Argentina's next squad after he was not selected for World Cup Qualifiers against Uruguay and Brazil last month. In the meantime, he will help United's bid to keep pace with the Premier League top four.
