'They have asked me to take care of him' - Colombia manager Nestor Lorenzo issues update on Luis Diaz's injury as Liverpool keep tabs on winger

The Colombian international picked up a groin issue during Liverpool's 4-3 FA Cup quarter-final loss to Manchester United last weekend. Ahead of Los Cafeteros facing Spain on Friday night, manager Lorenzo has allayed any fears about the 27-year-old's condition.

He said, via El Heraldo: “Luis is fine. We have measured the loads because he played the extra time. He is one of the players who plays the most. They have asked me to take care of him. We’re going to do that, but he’s going to measure himself so that he’s fine.”

Going by the manager's comments, Diaz could be back in action very soon, both for Colombia and Liverpool. The Reds are trying to win a treble after triumphing in the Carabao Cup and are vying to claim the Premier League and Europa League. And if Diaz is fit, that will be a big boost for Jurgen Klopp's men.

After Colombia's friendly with Spain, they take on Romania on Tuesday to wrap up their international break. Diaz's Liverpool, who are second in the table, are back in Premier League action at home to Brighton on March 31.
